Eric Drougge


Eric Drougge is a 18 year old Swedish cellist. He began studying the cello at the age of four and has been tutored by Petra Hellquist, Peter Schöning and Ingemar Brantelid. He is now studying for professor Niels Ullner in Copenhagen. Eric is currently educated at Nordiska Musikgymnasiet, Stockholm. Eric has been the principal cellist of SASO, Sankt Annæ Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen, and the alternating principal cellist of MAO, Malmö Academic Orchestra.

Eric has been awarded prizes at several competitions such as 1 prize at the Stockholm International Music Competition in 2015 and 2017, 1 prize at the Berlingske Klassiske Musikkonkurrence in 2019, 1 prize and Talent prize at Öresunds Solist in 2020 and gold medal at Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatoriums Klassiske Musik-konkurrence in 2020. Eric is appointed Bergslags Soloist 2024 and in his debut concert he will perform Robert Schumann's cello concerto with Bergslagens Chamber Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Simon Crawford-Phillips. Eric has also been appointed for Fairplay Chamber Music Academy 2024 with professor Torleif Thedéen and professor Jakob Koranyi.

He has received numerous scholarships during the years supporting his cello studies and has attended masterclasses given by for example Mats Lidström, Royal Academy of Music, London.

Erics favourite composers are Bach, Beethoven, Bruckner and Schumann, and he performs on a cello by Giovanni Lazzaro, Padua, 2002. Eric is looking forward to the upcoming years, striving to be a professional cellist in the future.
